Songtradr Announces 2022’s Top Songs and Hit-Making Shows

The company’s end-of-year data reveals the shows that fueled the most music search activity in 2022

SAN FRANCISCO — December 28, 2022 — Songtradr, the world’s largest B2B platform helping brands find their voice with music, has released its findings on the 2022’s most popular music featured on TV.

Using data from its Tunefind solution, the leading source of music intelligence around movies and TV shows, Songtradr looked at which songs, shows, movies and artists powered the most clicks from its site directly to related Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and Amazon Music pages.

TV’s Top Songs

Tunefind’s top songs show a particular emphasis on HBO hit Euphoria. By clicks, the series had five of the top 10 tracks for the year, including No. 1 – Labrinth’s “I’m Tired” featuring Zendaya. The song had nearly double the clicks of the next song, showcasing Euphoria’s hit-making abilities, especially when one of the show’s stars is also involved. The top five:

  1. Labrinth & Zendaya: I’m Tired (Euphoria)
  2. Killer Mike: Untitled (Ozark)
  3. Journey: Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) – Bryce Miller/Alloy Tracks Remix (Stranger Things)
  4. Sinead O’Connor: Drink Before the War (Euphoria)
  5. Tommee Proffitt & Fleurie: Chasing Cars (Grey’s Anatomy)

TV’s Top Shows For Songs

While premium cable and streaming scores plenty of hits, ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy still manages to drive the most pageviews (for the sixth straight year) when it comes to music searches given the show’s emphasis on tone-setting songs.

In 2022, the show eked past Euphoria for the No. 1 spot by total pageviews on Tunefind, but notably had fewer unique users (Euphoria had 672K vs. 466K for Grey’s). It points out the staying power of Grey’s Anatomy, as well as its loyal fan base. But Euphoria is generating a lot more unique activity. The top five below, by pageviews:

  1. Grey’s Anatomy (1.96 million)
  2. Euphoria (1.94 million)
  3. Stranger Things (963K)
  4. Yellowstone (883K)
  5. The Blacklist (619K)
