Smart TV Home Screens Emerge As Prime Advertising Option
VIZIO case study reveals smart TV interface offers advertisers exciting new possibilities not possible with traditional linear TV.
When it comes to advertising on television, most people think of traditional commercials aired during programming breaks.
But with the majority of smart TV owners now starting their viewing experience on a home screen filled with viewing options from a variety of sources, that assumption is changing.
A recent case study from VIZIO Ads proves that the smart TV home screen has become valuable real estate for advertisers looking to augment their traditional linear promotional campaigns.
A major broadcast network recently worked with VIZIO Ads to promote the season premiere of a primetime drama on the VIZIO SmartCast home screen. That consisted of a combination of rotational featured units and a complete home screen takeover.
VIZO then used its Inscape glass-level technology to determine how many VIZIO viewers saw/interacted with the network’s TV ads and compared it to those who saw/interacted with the home screen ads.
This analysis found that 46% of active VIZIO viewers were exposed to the promotions during the campaign in all formats. But only 2% of viewers were reached solely through traditional linear ads.
What’s more, the home screen takeover drove the most viewers, with 95% more viewers watching the premier after being exposed to the home screen takeover than those viewers who were not.
