Sensis Earns Webby Honors for Best Data Visualization

The multicultural creative agency was recognized as a 2022 Webby Honoree for Best Data Visualization for its work in redesigning the website for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California

LOS ANGELES (April 28, 2022) — Sensis was recognized as a 2022 Webby Honoree for Best Data Visualization for its work in redesigning mwdh2o.com, the website for Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD).

The LA-based ad agency, which serves several government clients, was hired to deliver a full website redesign for the MWD. The culmination of their three-year collaboration is a fully responsive digital destination that helps ensure the security of water availability for 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people of all cultures across Southern California.

A major part of the project was focused on telling the history of the MWD and educating communities across Southern California about their regional sources of water. The site brings the story of water to life through features such as an interactive trek along the 700-mile California State Water Project, which feeds the MWD.

The redesigned website is now a resource for community members to better understand this pillar of Southern California infrastructure. The website shares the history of MWD, data regarding water resources, current events relating to the MWD, and virtual tours of the surrounding water sources and treatment plants.

The MWD website also includes a portal for the Board of Directors and access to view live-streaming meetings.

About the MWD

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a state-established cooperative that, along with its 26 cities and retail suppliers, provides water for 19 million people in six counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
