Lee Clow of TBWA was one of Steve Jobs's close friends and most trusted advisers. They created Apple's legendary "1984" spot together, reunited for "Think different" in 1997, and remained close throughout their marketing partnership. Jobs once described to Adweek how he and Clow would spar at their weekly meetings. "We always have the same destination in mind, so it's fun to wrestle and shout about how best to get there," he said. Clow's fundamental strength was that he "looks at Apple from his heart," Jobs said, "and this gives him the ability to see us as we should be, to see us as we have trouble seeing ourselves sometimes.
