Jack White, who once wrote a song for Coke, is now protesting the soda company’s use of a song he wrote for the upcoming James Bond movie. Thankfully, the argument isn’t one about artistic integrity but licensing, where White has a leg to stand on. "Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film Quantum of Solace," says a letter from his management, "not for Coca-Cola. Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White." Fair enough. Another possible reason for White’s reaction is that the song, a duet with Alicia Keys, might suck and he doesn’t want the backdraft to singe his overrated band’s reputation.
