Facebook Is Giving Developers More Clarity on Rate Limits

A console is being added to the app dashboard

Facebook is giving application developers new tools to help protect them against reaching their rate limits.

Rate limits are defined as the maximum number of calls an app can make to the social network’s application-programming interfaces within a specific time period, and Facebook uses them to protect the integrity of its platform, as well as to prevent malicious activity.

The social network said in a blog post that developers have shared feedback that they have difficulties understanding their rate limit calculations and why they have reached those limits.

In order to remedy this, Facebook’s app dashboard will have a new console where they can find additional information about the data usage of their apps and see if they are approaching their rate limits.
