Miley Can't Stop Beating Bieber on Vevo Star's new video sets 24-hour view record, but long way to the top

Miley Cyrus has had a big week. New single. Jimmy Kimmel. An outdoor concert on Good Morning America. And she beat Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj.

In fact, Cyrus’ video We Can’t Stop generated 10.7 million views on Vevo in just 24 hours. That just edged out Bieber and Minaj’s 10.6 million views for Beauty and the Beat last year.

Since debuting on Vevo, We Can’t Stop has delivered nearly 35 million views in roughly a week. Cyrus performed the song on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday and GMA on Wednesday, both of which surely helped drive interest in the new video, which features a leotard-wearing, midriff-bearing, grinding Cyrus on a stationary bike and eating soup. No, this is not Hannah Montana territory.

Cyrus was to conclude her epic promotional tour on Friday with a visit to Live With Kelly and Michael.

Thirty-five million views in a week put Cyrus in some good company, but she’s got a long way to go to catch Vevo’s biggest star. That would be Bieber, whose video for Baby has generated a whopping 868M views views since debuting in 2010 (Gangnam Style is strictly a YouTube phenomenon).

Miley may have trouble even catching herself. Her biggest hit to date, Party in The USA has been streamed on Vevo over 335 million times.
