WZTV Offers $10,000 Reward in Reporter Shooting

WZTV, Nashville’s Fox affiliate, is offering $10,000 to anyone who can provide information about the robbery and shooting of reporter Erika Lathon.

The Nashville Police Department has posted the reward notice to its website, giving details about what happened during the robbery/shooting,

Lathon was approached by the gunman at 11:45 p.m.  He demanded cash.  She complied.  The robber, who was dressed in all black and wore a mask, fired one time into Lathon’s car and fled on foot.  She drove herself to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the arm.

Lathon, who described the gunshot as feeling like she’d been hit in the arm with a two by four, told WZTV, “I’m just glad to be here to tell the story and, you know, that I survived this, and that my family didn’t have to get another phone call.”

Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers in Nashville at 74-CRIME, witnesses can also text Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or they can go online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com.

The reward is effective for 365 days from December 7, 2012.
