WXYZ Anchor Stephen Clark Heads to Nashville to Pursue Music Career

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WXYZ anchor and former WCBS anchor-reporter Stephen Clark had his last show in Detroit Tuesday night. After 16 years he retired from the 6 and 11p.m news to pursue his dream in Nashville as a singer-songwriter.

“To me, Detroit has been my favorite overall story that I’ve done. I’ve got into this business 40 years ago to tell stories of…ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I feel the City of Detroit fits that, just what it has managed to do (in the past 16 years). That is a phenomenal story and it should not be taken for granted,” Clark said upon announcing his retirement from broadcasting.

Clark started at KRDO in Colorado Springs. He eventually moved on to Washington D.C., Denver, San Diego and then New York. He was a correspondent for CBS News at the time of the 9/11 attacks.
