WXIN General Manager Moves to Rival WTHR

Dispatch Broadcast Group has named Larry Delia president and general manager of WTHR-WALV in Indianapolis. Delia comes from rival WXIN, Tribune’s Fox affiliate, where he has been vice president and general manager since 2011.

“Larry is a highly respected broadcaster, with years of experience in skillfully managing high performance television stations,” Dispatch Broadcast Group CEO Michael J. Fiorile said in a statement. “His knowledge of the Indianapolis market is a wonderful asset, and I couldn’t be happier that he will be joining our station in Indianapolis.”

Before joining WXIN, Delia worked as VP-GM of WPMT in Harrisburg and WGNO in New Orleans.

Delia succeeds John Cardenas, who was recently promoted to president-GM of WBNS and vice president of news for Dispatch. More in the full press release after the jump.

 

Columbus, June 7—Dispatch Broadcast Group announced today that Larry Delia has been named President and General Manager of WTHR/WALV, Indianapolis. In making the announcement Michael J. Fiorile, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dispatch Broadcast Group said, “Larry is a highly respected broadcaster, with years of experience in skillfully managing high performance television stations. His knowledge of the Indianapolis market is a wonderful asset, and I couldn’t be happier that he will be joining our station in Indianapolis.”

Delia succeeds John Cardenas who was recently promoted to President/General Manager of Dispatch’s WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and Vice President of News for Dispatch Broadcast Group. Delia is no stranger to Central Indiana. He comes to WTHR/WALV from Tribune’s WXIN-FOX/WTTV-CW duopoly in Indianapolis where he has served as Vice President and General Manager since 2011. During that time he led the station’s growth in news, ratings and revenue.

Prior to WXIN-FOX, Delia was Vice President and General Manager of Tribune’s WPMT-FOX in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. During his tenure there, WPMT became one of Tribune’s leading performers in ratings and revenue. From 2002 to 2008 he served as Vice President/General Manager of WGNO-ABC/WNOL-WB, CW in New Orleans, Louisiana where he was the recipient of the 2007 Tribune Management Leadership Award. During his time in New Orleans he successfully planned, executed and managed the Hurricane Katrina crisis

Delia has also served as Vice President and General Manager for WVNY-ABC in Burlington, Vermont as well as General Sales Manager for WTIC-FOX in Hartford, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Delia will assume his duties at WTHR/WALV on a date still to be determined. Larry, his wife Carrie, and three children reside in Carmel, Indiana.
