WXIN Anchor Jenny Anchondo Celebrates Special Bond with Her Mother

By Andrew Gauthier

On Mother’s Day, WXIN anchor Jenny Anchondo celebrates a unique bond with her mom as the two women essentially grew up together. When Anchondo’s mom Jeanette was three months pregnant with her, she was struck by a falling tree and suffered significant mental damage.

The freak accident left Jeanette with total amnesia and the loss of many basic skills, including walking and talking. Jenny and Jeanette described their unique bond in a moving piece from the Indianapolis Star this weekend.

“Usually, you’re born to a mother with all these preconceived notions about life, and it was like we were two people going through life together,” Jenny told the Star.

When Jenny was young, Jeanette would stay home with her and the two would spend the day reading books together, the mother teaching the daughter how to read while re-learning how to do so herself.

“My life is really wonderful with my husband and my children, and I’m thankful that we lived through it,” Jeanette said of the accident. “To me the most important thing is that connection we have.”
