WXIA’s Ted Hall: Mornings Will ‘Really Show a Different Side of My Personality’

By Merrill Knox

WXIA anchor Ted Hall will have to set his alarm a little earlier this fall.

The Atlanta NBC affiliate announced today that Hall will replace veteran morning anchor Jill Becker when she retires in August. Hall, who is currently the evening anchor, has been testing out the earlier time slot in the months since Becker announced her retirement.

“As soon as I filled in on the morning show, I knew it was the right fit,” Hall said. “The positives are many. There’s more time with my family, [and] a fun, high energy show that will give me a chance to help people and really show a different side of my personality. The negative? Replacing someone as skilled as Jill Becker.”

Becker, who has been WXIA’s morning anchor for 22 years, said she approved of her replacement. “He’s one of my favorite people, personally and professionally,” she said. “I’ll be watching!”
