WXIA Unveils Sleek New Set

Atlanta NBC affiliate WXIA debuted a sleek new set Tuesday to go along with the new Gannett graphics package.

At one point in yesterday’s Noon newscast, the open concept design of the set was evident.

During the tail end of an on-set interview with Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, a two-shot with Reed became a three-shot when anchor Karyn Greer tossed to reporter Rebecca Lindstrom who could be seen standing in the background.

Lindstrom was stationed in the reporter area which features a plexiglas stairway to nowhere and flat screen monitors. You can see a photo after the jump.

The set is bordered by color changing frosted plexiglas and flat screen monitors including a large freestanding 3′ by 4′ monitor array.

Newscast studio makes note of the use of blurred panels throughout the set and describes them as coming across as “a bit extreme.”
