Laura Buchtel is leaving New Orleans CBS affiliate WWL.
Buchtel has worked at WWL for 10 of her 12 years in TV. Her last day will be Friday.
“I’ve made the tough decision to pursue some things outside of TV for now,” she told viewers this morning. “It’s just one of those things when you know that it’s time. You’ve had a great 10 years here and you know there needs to be a new chapter.”

She filled in at the station in 2005, giving the meteorology department a break after Hurricane Katrina. “Not long after that,” her station bio says. “Laura returned to the city for good and now serves as the meteorologist for the Eyewitness Morning News.”
