WSVN Anchor’s Food Segment Expands to Show

By Kevin Eck

WSVN anchor Belkys Nerey is expanding her Bite with Belkys food segment from two minutes twice a week to a quarterly half-hour show, reports the Miami Herald.

The first show will air Saturday, March 25 on the Miami Fox affiliate.

“I wouldn’t compare myself to anyone out there like Rachael Ray,” Nerey told the Herald. “She’s not a chef, but she had a food background. I really don’t. I just like cooking. I like looking at a recipe and saying, ‘Hmm. I wonder if I could make this at home.’”

“Belkys has an engaging personality,” Alice Jacobs, vp of news told the Sun-Sentinel. “Viewers feel a connection with her. What makes our show different is that Belkys is not a professional chef. She loves to cook, and her motto is: ‘If I can do it, you can do it.’”

“It’s just having fun,” said Nerey. “Cooking doesn’t always have to be serious all the time. You don’t have to be afraid of the kitchen. Some people think that they can’t do it, and I’m like, ‘Yeah, you can.’ “
