WRC’s Jim Vance Leaving 11PM Anchor Spot

JimVanceJim Vance, the veteran evening anchor at Washington NBC-owned station WRC, is stepping down from his 11 p.m. anchor gig.

According to the Washington Post, Vance will remain at the station through 2017, and will continue to co-anchor the 6 p.m. newscast with his longtime on-air partner, Doreen Gentzler.

Vance joined WRC in 1969, and became anchor in 1972, joining the first wave of African American anchors in the U.S. Vance has appeared on the 11 p.m. newscast for the past 43 years.

His last late night broadcast will be at the end of May. Vance’s successor will be named later today.
