On September 15, WPTZ will split its CW and MeTV Network broadcasts into two digital subchannels.
The Plattsburg-Burlington NBC affiliate said the new channel 5.3 will allow the station to expand the programming of both networks. The two have been sharing the broadcast day on subchannel 5.2 since March 2013.
According to WPTZ/WNNE President and General Manager Kyle Grimes, “providing three separate channels of diverse programming is a really exciting opportunity for our market. Whether it’s local news and weather, cutting edge drama and entertainment or classic comedy, we will have something for everyone.”
WPTZ 5.2, now called The Valley CW, will feature popular programs like “The Vampire Diaries”, “The 100″ and “The Originals”, plus exciting new fall offerings “The Flash” and “Jane the Virgin”. In addition to The CW’s signature primetime programming, The Valley CW will also exclusively offer favorites like “Seinfeld”, “Rules of Engagement”, “King of the Hill” and “Cougar Town” in other time periods.
On The Valley’s MeTV, WPTZ 5.3, viewers will find a slate filled with memorable TV moments, including classics like “The Rifleman”, “M*A*S*H”, “CHiPs” and “Cheers”.
According to Grimes, “these timeless programs aren’t available anywhere else locally, so we’re excited to bring them to our viewers in Burlington, Plattsburgh and the rest of the Champlain Valley.”
All three channels, WPTZ, The Valley CW and The Valley’s MeTV, will be carried by most area cable and satellite providers.
