WOOD Adds Evan Dean as Reporter

Evan Dean has joined Grand Rapids NBC affiliate WOOD as a reporter.

Dean, who came from WWTV in Cadillac, Mich., will report for the 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. shows and for WXSP at 10:00 p.m.

“This is a huge opportunity,” said Dean.

Mlive reports Dean joins the station at the same time morning anchor Brett Thomas leaves.

Dean’s hiring follows May’s announcement that morning anchor Brett Thomas departs this week after 17 years at the station. Thomas’ final day is Friday.

But Dean, a Michigan native who was born in Traverse City and grew up in Cadillac, has joined West Michigan’s NBC-TV affiliate as a reporter, not an anchor, said News Director Dan Boers.
