Lidia Curanaj, a reporter for the New York FOX affiliate, WNYW, almost upgraded the iPhone 5 before it had a chance to hit the stores. Curanaj was covering the upcoming sale of the widely anticipated new phone at the Apple store on 5th avenue in New York City. After talking about the inevitable line of die-hards who queue up to be the first to get their hands on new technology, her taped package cut to what looked like a prototype of the new iPhone. (You can watch the video after the jump) Here’s what Curanaj said next,
“Starting at $200 bucks, the iPhone 5 is sleeker, has a laser keyboard, holographic images and other cool new features.”
Except the new phone has no laser keyboard and no holograms, at least not yet. In addition to the gaffe, the video demonstrating the alleged features was from Aatma studio, a San Francisco animation and visual effects company showing off their version of an iPhone 5 prototype.
A FOX spokesperson sent TVSpy a link to a web page where the station corrected the gaffe. Watch the video inside.
