WNBC’s Jane Hanson: “I’m a Woman Over 50, and Women Over 50 Are Not Necessarily Welcomed”

By Andrew Gauthier

“I’m a woman over 50, and women over 50 are not necessarily welcomed on television,” WNBC’s Jane Hanson told TVSpy’s sister site FishbowlNY recently.

“I honestly thought this may be a really nice signal for women out there that you don’t have to be 35, or you don’t have to be 25. You can be over 50, go back on the air and actually have a voice.”

Hanson spent 27 years with WNBC, much of it as a morning anchor, before being unceremoniously fired in 2006.
