vargas russellWNBC, the NBC owned station in New York City, is swapping evening anchors. Beginning next month, Sibila Vargas (left) will replace Shiba Russell (right) on the 11 p.m. newscast.

A spokesperson for the NBC owned station confirms the news, which was first reported by FTVLive, to TunedIn’s Jerry Barmash. “As a matter of course, schedule changes routinely take place at local stations, and this is no different. Both Sibila and Shiba play important roles on our anchor team and will continue to do so,” the spokesperson said.

Vargas, a relative newcomer to WNBC, will anchor the 11 p.m. newscast alongside Chuck Scarborough. The changes will officially take place February 3.
