Anchor Given Absolute Power in Internet Meme

By Kevin Eck

During yesterday’s blizzard a viewer grabbed a shot of  John Stoffet from WMTV, the NBC affiliate for Madison, WI, and added their thoughts on what the blizzard had done to the state of Wisconsin.

The internet being what it is, the story doesn’t end there.  Another viewer then posted his own take to the shot and posted it to Stoffet’s facebook page, granting Stoffet unheard of power for a local anchor saying, “You Close Schools.  I Close States.”

You can see another still with the “Wisconsin Closed” graphic over a shot of snowfall after the jump.

>UPDATE: This post is a correction from the earlier post.  TVSpy received the original photo from Stoffel, thinking the “Wisconsin Closed” was a mistake made by the station instead of having come from a creative viewer.
