The last time it happened in May was in 1996. Yes, we’re talking about Chicago NBC owned station WMAQ beating ABC-owned WLS in the demo at 10:00 p.m.
In the late news Monday through Friday*, WMAQ had a 3.6 against WLS’ 3.5 in adults 25-54. For adults 18-49 for the same time period, WMAQ squeezed out two more tenths a of point, beating WLS 2.5 to 2.3.
As they say in sports, a win is a win and no one ever asks how many you won by.

Household numbers Monday through Friday** show a different story, though. WMAQ had a 7.2 while WLS showed up with an 8.6 for May.
