WLTX Meteorologist Surprised by ‘Singing’ Telegram On-Air

By Kevin Eck

WLTX meteorologist Amy Aaronson celebrated her birthday by having the 6:45 a.m. traffic portion of her weather forecast interrupted by a man named “Captain Telegram.”

The Captain loudly joined the Columbia, SC, CBS affiliate’s weather anchor on-screen by doing an age-advanced impersonation of Robin Williams complete with shouting, bouncing around and finally singing a quick birthday ditty that ended with “Get me out of here! Exit stage right.”

The car wreck icon in the background map pretty much summed up the entire episode, with the surprised meteorologist unable to get a word in edgewise over the boisterous Captain.

“Amy, did that scare the heck out of you?” asked morning anchor Lauren Talarico. “It almost gave me a heart attack,” said Aaronson. You can watch the video after the jump.
