WJXT Meteorologist’s Condition Improving

By Andrew Gauthier

WJXT chief meteorologist George Winterling remains in the hospital but his condition is improving, according to the station.  Winterling, 80, was hospitalized nearly two weeks with an unspecified illness.

“So many people have asked us about George in the past few days. I’m thrilled to tell you although he’s still in the hospital he’s stable and progressing,” WJXT vice president and general manager Bob Ellis announced on Friday. “He’s been watching our Channel 4 newscasts and, as you might expect, keeping tabs on the weather.”

Winterling has been WJXT’s chief meteorologist for over four decades.  Although he stepped away from daily forecasting duties two years ago, he remained active with the station up until the time of his hospitalization.
