Wilmington Station Adds CBS Affiliation

Wilmington ABC affiliate WWAY will add CBS programming in the new year, reports the Star-News.

WWAY general manager Andy Combs told the newspaper the addition of CBS is “huge” for the station, as it will be the first time all viewers in the market will be able to receive a clear signal of CBS programming, which has been carried on WILM.

“There are many households that could not get CBS over the air with WILM because the signal was weak,” Combs said. “The only way for some to get CBS was to subscribe. Now that we have it, we are going to be putting it out at full power so everyone in our area will be able to get it free over the air.”

WWAY newscasts will simulcast on both CBS and ABC’s digital channels, and new newscasts will air on CBS from 12-12:30 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.
