WICU Moves Anchor Kevin MacDowell Off Anchor Desk and Into Reporting

By Kevin Eck

Veteran news reporter and anchor Kevin MacDowell has been named senior reporter after being moved off the WICU anchor desk.

“It was time to make the move,” Pam Forsyth, general manager for the Erie, PA, NBC affiliate, told the Erie Times-News. “Kevin is still a respected employee here.”

Despite reports making it sound like MacDowell found out about the move after returning from vacation, Forsyth told TVSpy the switch was discussed before MacDowell’s time off.

The Times-News reports Forsyth said MacDowell will add “in-depth, investigative stories that will affect the people of this community.” She also said MacDowell will serve as a newsroom mentor.

MacDowell has been in the TV news business for over 20 years. He has also worked in Minneapolis, MN, and Miami, FL.

Replacing McDowell will be sports anchor Mike Ruzzi. Jay Puskar will take Ruzzi’s sports anchor slot.
