Wichita Meteorologist Left Station To Pursue Dream

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Longtime Wichita meteorologist, Dave Freeman, has left the station after 24 years.

KSN, the NBC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas, paid tribute to the chief meteorologist last week saying “he will always be remembered in Wichita as the guy who kept us safe during severe weather.”

According to the station site, Freeman will be leaving news to embark on another journey near to him and his wife.

“Tracy and I have always harbored a dream to be able to go and serve and give back, and we were particularly interested in going to Haifa, Israel, to serve at the Bahai World Center. All three of our kids went there and served a year of volunteer service, and we saw what it meant to them,” said Freeman. “It’s not so much I’m leaving KSN which right now is a very happy place and a good place, as it is we’re going to pursue this desire we’ve had to serve.”

No word on who will be named the new chief meteorologist.
