WHDH Says It’s Not Going Away Quietly With Ratings Wins

By Kevin Eck

Former NBC affiliate WHDH is letting people know it isn’t fading away after it lost its affiliation.

Calling itself a “news intensive independent station,” the Sunbeam-owned station says it’s still a leader in Adults 25-54 for its morning, evening and late newscasts one day after the launch of NBC-owned station WBTS. The station placed first or second in its morning, evening and late newscasts.

On Monday, the station got a 0.6 compared to the 0.5 from Hearst ABC affiliate WCVB at 5 a.m. The Sunbeam-owned station finished a close second with a 1.3 at 6 p.m. compared to NBC Boston’s 1.5. WHDH won 11 p.m. with a 2.1. Its closest competitor was CBS-owned WBZ which had a 1.0.
