WGN’s Tom Skilling Signs 10-Year Contract Renewal

Tom Skilling, the chief meteorologist at WGN in Chicago, has signed a 10-year contract extension that will keep him at the CW affiliate for the next decade, Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder reports:

In a blockbuster deal that was expected to be signed Wednesday, Skilling, 60, agreed to continue as chief meteorologist for the Tribune Co. flagships here through 2022. Terms were not disclosed, but Skilling is believed to be the highest paid local weatherman in the country, with a million-dollar salary and 12-person staff.

Skilling has been chief meteorologist at WGN since 1978, appearing on the station’s newscasts at 11 a.m., noon, 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
