WGN Starts Weiner War with Cleveland Hot Dog Vendor

Forget the World Series, the real battle for the hearts and minds of Americans is being fought over hot dogs.

Cleveland Fox affiliate WJW reports Happy Dog in Cleveland trolled a WGN story trolling it for its Froot Loop covered hot dog.

During Game One of the World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians, WGN posted a story about the Froot Loop dog with a comment that said “yeah. No.”

So Happy Dog fired back by reminding hot dog aficionados in Chicago that it ranks second on a list of best hot dog places in America. It also shared a photo of Cubs fans waiting in line to get one of its weiners.

“So while we were busy watching the Cleveland Cavaliers get their rings and Cleveland Indians shutting out the Cubs in Game 1, WGN TV was trolling us about Froot Loops on our hot dogs,” The Happy Dog wrote on Facebook. “We know Chicagoans love their hot dogs, too. They have some great places, like Portillo’s, Superdawg, Chicago’s Gene & Jude’s Hot Dogs Since 1946 and the late great Hot Doug’s. We know because we found them on this list of best hot dog places in America (we had to scroll down from Happy Dog at #2 to find them, but they’re there alright).”

WGN also sent this out, saying “This is what a real hot dog looks like.”
