WGCL Atlanta Adding 9 A.M. News

By Chris Ariens

WGCL CBS Atlanta is expanding its early morning show, “Better Mornings Atlanta” to the 9am hour later this summer.

“We see the 9 a.m. hour as an opportunity to build on the tremendous growth the Better Mornings brand has experienced in the past two years,” news director Eric Ludgood tells B&C. “This expansion into the mid-mornings takes advantage of a time slot where there is only one other local news option for viewers.” That would be “Good Day Atlanta” on WAGA.

The “Better” brand is in line with station owner Meredith’s syndicated Better TV which was launched in 2007. The brand actually goes back to 1927 when the company changed Fruit, Garden and Home magazine to Better Homes and Gardens.

WGCL is also axing its Noon news and moving the national edition of “Better” to the Noon slot.
