WFOR Buys Tickets to Save Dolphins From Blackout

By Andrew Gauthier

The Miami Dolphins have avoided a TV blackout this Sunday, thanks to WFOR.

League rules require NFL teams to sell a certain amount of tickets before home games to avoid a blackout and the CBS-affiliate jumped in at the last moment this week, buying a block of tickets to ensure that the game will be broadcast locally on WFOR.

The station joined with a handful of local businesses to buy up tickets so the Dolphins could reach their 65,000 ticket minimum, according to the Palm Beach Post.

This is apparently the fourth time in the past five games that businesses have jumped in to save the last-place Dolphins from a blackout.  It is unclear how many tickets WFOR actually purchased to save its broadcast of the game.  TVSpy is still waiting for a reply from the station.
