WFMY in Greensboro, NC is moving Tanya Rivera from mornings to anchor the CBS-affiliate’s 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. Rivera made the announcement on-air this morning. Here’s the video…
Rivera has been with WFMY for nine years, filling a bunch of different roles in the station’s newsroom, and now she’s being rewarded for her efforts.
“One of the best parts of my job is having a perfect opportunity to recognize and reward people who work hard and make a difference to our team and to our viewers,” said WFMY’s news director Bob Clinkingbeard. “She has earned it–through hard work, willingness to do what it takes to win, through solid and fair journalism, and being an appreciated team member and a respected leader.”
Rivera will solo anchor the 5 p.m. newscast and join Frank Mickens in anchoring the 6 p.m. news. Her final day with WFMY’s “Good Morning Show” was today and she’s set to make her evening debut on January 17.
“I am honored to sit in that chair at 5 and 6. So many fantastic people have been in that chair over the years,” Rivera said this morning. In December, WFMY said goodbye to longtime anchor Sandra Hughes. Hughes retired after 37 years with the station, many of which were spent anchoring the 6 p.m. newscast.
