WESH-WKCF GM to Retire

James J. Carter, president and GM of Orlando NBC and CW affiliates WESHWKCF, is retiring this summer.

“Jim has been an integral leader for Hearst Television, with a track record of success at every Hearst business that he’s managed,” said , Hearst Television’s president Jordan Wertlieb. “His career is distinguished by quality journalism, local programming, community service and thoughtful leadership.”

No replacement has been named for Carter, who worked for almost ten years as GM of Hearst’s WLKY in Louisville, Ky., before joining WESH in 2008.

“I’ve been honored to call myself a broadcaster for 44 years and so fortunate to work for the finest in the business for the last three decades,” said Carter.

He started his career as an account executive with Lloyd Advertising in Omaha, Neb., and then moved into radio at WOW in Omaha. When he was 26, he was named station manager of Omaha’s KEZO-FM. Carter later joined Hearst as GM of its Pittsburgh radio stations WTAE-WVTY before being named vp of Sales for WTAE TV.
