Vicki Gardner, the lone survivor of last week’s murder of two WDBJ journalists, wants something good to come out of the tragedy that took the lives of Adam Ward and Allison Parker.
“It’s an awful tragedy but there will be something good that comes out of this darkness and that is what our prayers are for,” Pastor Troy Keaton told Roanoke’s WSLS. Keaton works with Gardner at the Chamber of Commerce.
Gardner is the executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Region. She was shot during a live interview about the area on the Roanoke, Va., CBS affiliate.
“We know the lake is a beautiful place that should be envied and that’s what Vicki wants,” said Pastor Troy Keaton, who works with Gardner at the Chamber of Commerce. “She wants this to be a positive face on the lake again and not let this be the person or the deed that defines the lake.”
