WDAF Sports Anchor Al Wallace Recovering From Prostate Cancer Surgery

By Merrill Knox

WDAF sports anchor Al Wallace is recovering from prostate cancer surgery, Bottom Line Communications reports.

Wallace, who has worked at the Kansas City Fox-affiliate since 1985, shared the news with WDAF staffers in a note last week.

“As I approach 34 years working in broadcasting, I thought I’d seen it all,” Wallace wrote. “So you can only imagine my reaction when my doctor recently told me I had prostate cancer. That’s the bad news. The good news is it was detected VERY early, and it is VERY treatable.”

According to Bottom Line, Wallace’s surgery was Thursday, and he was released from the hospital on Friday. Jason Lamb will fill in for Wallace during his recovery period.
