By Andrew Gauthier

WDAF chief meteorologist Mike Thompson was all set to do the weather on Wednesday night when everything went silent.

During the Fox-affiliate’s 10 p.m. newscast, Thompson began his weather update but then quickly realized that no one at home could hear him. His mic was dead.

As time ticked away, the studio crew scrambled to find Thompson a backup pack. Video inside…

“These new mics eat batteries for lunch,” Thompson told TVSpy today, explaining that the mishap was caused by dead batteries. “The new digital age is not as forgiving at times as the old analog stuff. Live TV…gotta love it!”
