WDAF Angers Royals Fans with Sarcastic Facebook Post

By Kevin Eck

Kansas City FOX affiliate WDAF angered Royals fans when it got sarcastic about the team in a facebook post on Sunday.

After a game against the visiting Oakland A’s that saw five Royals ejected, including manager Ned Yost, the station posted, “Great display of sportsmanship by both teams today in front of the 14,000+ Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and their families attending the game out at the K today. Bravo guys!”

An hour later, the station edited the post to read, “We love the Royals. Doesn’t mean we love everything they do, but I do apologize for the sarcasm-it wasn’t necessary. Again. sorry for the offense.”

You guys messed up so bad.”

alford WDAF KCOne commenter took a screen shot of a reply from anchor Mark Alford, who told one viewer, “See ya don’t let the remote control kick you on the way out!” He added the station would welcome the viewer back “any time.”

TVSpy asked Tribune and WDAF for comment. WDAF referred us to Tribune, but they haven’t gotten back to us yet.
