Boston ABC affiliate WCVB is launching an hour weekend newscast at 5 p.m.
The station says the show will air on Sundays through 2015, but will air most often on Saturday evenings, depending on the ABC schedule, in the first quarter of 2016.
The Sunday show will by anchored by Ed Harding, Heather Unruh, meteorologist Mike Wankum and sports anchor Mike Lynch. The Saturday version will be anchored by Pam Cross, Bob Halloran and meteorologist Mike Wankum.
“NewsCenter 5 remains dedicated to serving our community by providing the best news and information across times and platforms that are convenient,” said WCVB news director Andrew Vrees. “This additional hour on weekends at 5:00PM gives viewers a new choice, and we’re pleased to make it available.”
