WCJB Acts Out Highlights of March Madness Game to Avoid Broadcast Rules

By Kevin Eck

Gainesville, FL, ABC affiliate WCJB wanted to show its viewers highlights from the March Madness game between Florida and Dayton.

“Since we don’t have rights to the footage, I can’t air any of it until tomorrow without breaking the law and every other rule and regulation known to TV,” sports anchor Zach Aldridge told viewers. “But I still want to show you guys what happened in Memphis toady. So I present the next best thing: TV 20’s version.”

Aldridge along with three staffers put on either red or blue shirts and re-enacted the game in what looked like a conference room.
