WCCO Anchor Frank Vascellaro Nearly Breaks Down in Tears Following Story of 8-Year-Old with Cancer

Sitting next to his wife and WCCO co-anchor, Amelia Santaniello, Frank Vascellaro nearly broke down in tears on-air last Wednesday following a report about an 8-year-old girl battling brain cancer (video above).

Vascellaro and Santaniello, who have been sharing the WCCO anchor desk since 2006, have a daughter that is the same age as Gracie Joles, the girl whose struggle with cancer was chronicled by WCCO reporter Lindsey Seavert last week.

“That story would not have had the same impact on me 10 years ago,” Vascellaro told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “Now I’ve got kids. Gracie is 8. My daughter is 8.”
