WCCB has fired Brien Blakely in the wake of a newsroom brawl that occurred earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Blakely and a news producer got into a fight moments before the Fox-affiliate’s 10 p.m. newscast. After the dust-up, Blakely went to the emergency room to treat a cut on his face and the producer exited the station. Neither has been to work since.
Station manager Jim White announced to staff today that both Blakely and the producer had been let go, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Sources told the Observer that the fight stemmed from a derogatory posting on Facebook.
Following the fight, Blakely said that he was “protecting the honor and integrity” of the station.
