WBND_LogoWBND, the ABC affiliate in South Bend, is expanding its weekday and weekend morning newscasts this fall. The expansion will add more than 18 hours of news a week to WBND’s lineup.

On weekdays, the station will add newscasts from 4:30 to 5 a.m. on WBND and from 7 to 9 a.m. on sister station WCWW, the CW affiliate in South Bend. On weekends, the station will launch 6 to 8 a.m. newscasts on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday and 10 to 11 a.m. on Sunday.

“When we launched ABC 57 News in April 2011, we began with 12 hours a week of local news,” general manager Jeff Guy said in a statement. “Since that time, we have more than doubled that number, currently delivering 27 hours a week. Now with the expansion in September, we will add 18.5 hours a week for a total of 45.5 hours a week of live news and weather coverage. No other television station in the market can compare – we will have the most live, local television news for viewers in Michiana.”
