WBIR Remembers Master Carpenter After His Death

Doyle Dixon, the man responsible for designing and building many of the sets used by WBIR, has died.

Dixon started at the Knoxville, Tenn. NBC affiliate in 1970. He retired in 2006. The station’s master carpenter and was known for his craftsmanship, his smile and his dedication.

Doyle passed away on June 9th at the age of 75, with his wife Judy at his side.

Doyle worked at the station before Anchor Emeritus Bill Williams came along. For Bill it’s not easy to say goodbye to one of Channel 10’s own. “It’s hard to lose a member of your family and I guess that’s why it’s so hard to lose Doyle because he was definitely a prominent member of our family here at Channel 10.”
