Starting on Sunday, Jackson, TN ABC-affiliate WBBJ will broadcast CBS programming on a digital subchannel.

The subchannel, which currently is a live weather radar, will expand to broadcast CBS and MeTV programming, as well as new local newscasts, WBBJ programming operations manager Wayne Thing told the Jackson Sun.

The main channel will continue to broadcast half-hour newscasts at 11:30 a.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. On the CBS-affiliated subchannel, there will be additional newscasts at noon, 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

“We hope we will be looking for new news at 6 and 6:30 that you did not see at 5 or 5:30,” Thing said.

He said the current news team —  Tom Britt, Keli McAlister, Brad Douglass and Gary Pickens — will continue in their respective roles, but the pairings may be different with the additional programing.
