WBAL’s Gerry Sandusky Takes Twitter Hate in Stride

Ever since former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky was accused of sex crimes against young boys earlier this month, WBAL sports director Gerry Sandusky has had to constantly tell people “‘Gerry’ with a ‘G.'”

As new details in the Jerry Sandusky case continue to emerge, Gerry has had to stick with this refrain, especially on Twitter.

Gerry told Esquire recently that he’s gained a thousand new followers since the Sandusky scandal began and everyday he’s had to patiently correct people who think their spewing venom at an alleged child molester.

Throughout the barrage of online hate, Gerry has displayed an exemplary amount of poise in replying to strangers wishing harm upon him.  Even though he’s changed his Twitter bio to read “I am Gerry with a G. Baltimore sportscaster. No relation to the former Penn State coach,” people continue to erroneously reference him.
