WAGA Gets First Evening News Win in Over a Decade

By Kevin Eck

For the first time in more than 10 years, Atlanta Fox-owned WAGA beat Cox-owned ABC affiliate WSB at 5 p.m. in the May sweeps.

Its 1.6 rating in Adults 25-54 beat WSB by a tenth of a point (1.5). WAGA reports WSB is down 35 percent since last May.

Cox’s Charlotte station WSOC is also losing ground to the competition. In February, it lost its ratings crown to CBS affiliate WBTV for the first time in 25 years. This morning, we reported Fox-owned WJZY and TEGNA’s WCNC are making gains in total viewers in the market.
