17285_689671147825337_964698856819088857_nDiana Williams, a longtime evening anchor at New York ABC-owned station WABC, is taking a leave of absence from the station.

Williams announced the news on her Facebook page today, writing:

On Friday we said our goodbyes. For those who have been following me via social media my husband will begin a bone marrow, now referred to as a stem cell transplant, starting today. And I will be at his side as he gets a new birthday. I bid farewell to the best team you could ask for on Friday as I take a leave of absence from work. I don’t know how long I will be gone but I couldn’t do this without the support of my amazing co workers. God bless them and all of you.

In a separate post, Williams posted a picture of her husband’s shaved head, with the following caption: “Hubs underwent the shearing of his lovely locks today. Family all there to witness his new look: pre SC transplant. No turning back now”

Both posts are now flooded with well-wishes from fans.

Williams joined WABC in 1991 as a reporter. No word yet on who will temporarily replace her at the station.
