The New York Daily News reports WABC reporter Lisa Colagrossi suffered a brain aneurysm while out on assignment yesterday.

Colagrossi started at the New York ABC-owned station in 2001.

We’re checking on her condition with WABC. We’ll update when we know more.

From the Daily News:

The 49-year-old mother of two was rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s neurological ICU and placed on life support.

Colagrossi’s family was at her bedside when doctors gave them the heartbreaking news that it is unlikely that she’ll recover, the sources said.

The newsroom was left “reeling” after WABC/Channel 7 station general manager Dave Davis told Colagrossi’s co-workers about her grave condition.

“We’re all just stunned,” a friend told The News.

“So many New Yorkers woke up with her every morning. She’s a staple and always solid and whip smart.”

The aneurysm struck Colagrossi as she was on her way back from a live report at the scene of a four-alarm fire in Woodhaven, Queens that had tore through a series of homes late Wednesday night.

“She was in the news van after finishing her live shot when she said ‘Oh my god, something is wrong,’” a friend said.

A co-worker said that her producer flagged down an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital.
